Yes, you can run GetLinked software from multiple computers.

Running GetLinked from multiple computers is an advanced topic that requires a little bit of networking infrastructure and some careful planning.

The two main reasons customers want multiple copies of GetLinked software installed:
- Separate responsibilities (ex. Daily Sales, Payroll, Payables, etc.).
- Covering job responsibilities when the regular personnel is out of the office.

Conditions for multiple copies of GetLinked:
- Each local copy of GetLinked must point to the same data on a shared network drive (ex. Server):

To perform a NEW installation of GetLinked to a shared network drive:
  1. Download and install GetLinked on "EACH" computer you wish to run GetLinked from. Be sure to select the SAME installation folder (ex. S:\GetLinked\) on each computer.
  2. Make sure that your point of sale data files are stored in a location accessible from all computers that are running GetLinked (ex. S:\GetLinkedData\).
  3. Enter your GetLinked Registration information from one computer and then close GetLinked.
  4. Open GetLinked on the other computers and make sure that you can see the registered company information show up in the toolbar.
  5. Proceed to setup your locations and process transactions as normal.
To MOVE an existing installation of GetLinked to the network drive:
  1. Move the existing GetLinked folder from the hard drive it is installed on (ex. C:\GetLinked\) to the shared network drive (ex. S:\GetLinked\).
  2. Open the GetLinked folder on the shared network drive and edit the GetLinked.set file. Change the last three lines of the GetLinked.set file to match the drive letter and folder where you moved GetLinked. In this example we are moving GetLinked from C:\GetLinked\ to S:\GetLinked\.

  3. Edit your start menu or desktop shortcuts to point to the new drive/path and then launch GetLinked.
  4. In GetLinked go to Setup > System > Pathnames and modify each of the pathnames listed to match the new GetLinked drive/path.
  5. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  6. Close and re-open GetLinked and test that you can see your existing GetLinked data (Location Setup Information, Transactions, etc.).
  7. On each of the new computers browse to the shared drive and to the new GetLinked folder. Run the Microsoft_Dexterity14_SharedComponents_(x86/x64)_en-us.msi installer for GetLinked shared components.
  8. Copy the GetLinked shortcuts from the existing GetLinked computer over to each new computer
  9. Test that you can open GetLinked from each new computer and see the GetLinked data (Location Setup Information, Transactions, etc.).
  10. Make sure that your point of sale data files are stored in a location accessible from all computers that are running GetLinked (ex. S:\GetLinkedData\).
  11. Proceed to setup your locations and process transactions as normal.
